About this aircraft
- After formally launching the G650 in 2005, Gulfstream made its first deliveries of the aircraft in 2012.

Even though the upgraded G700 has since surpassed the G650 as Gulfstream’s largest and fastest business jet, the G650 remains a revolutionary aircraft. Interior design
The Gulfstream G650 and G650ER offer a comfortable 6 ft 5 in of headroom in the cabin. The space is about 42 ft long, with an open layout that typically features 13-16 seats with three-person divans and a large television.
Each of the wide, articulating leather seats features a touchscreen interface hidden behind a panel in the bulkhead, which is used for controlling the lighting, temperature and entertainment system. These functions are duplicated on the Gulfstream Cabin Control app, which passengers can use to link to the aircraft through their smart devices.
There are many different configurations available onboard a G650. At the front of the aircraft, the standard interior layout includes a large galley with microwave, warming oven, refrigerator and freezer. An enclosed lavatory is found at the rear. Other configurations may feature an additional forward lavatory and dedicated crew seat.

Interesting facts to know before you fly
- Gulfstream’s signature cabin windows are particularly large. This, along with their sleek oval shape, allows plenty of natural light to enter the cabin during a flight. They’re also positioned so passengers can see the world below from their seat.
- Seats can convert into beds for up to seven people, depending on configuration.
- The G650 has one of the widest cabins in its class and feels incredibly spacious.
- Despite its size, the aircraft has FAA certification for steep approaches, enabling it to take off and land from London City Airport.
Technological features
In the cockpit, the G650’s controls are completely fly-by-wire, with no mechanical link between the pilot and flight surfaces. The three-axis digital system has two flight control computers, each with two channels for quadruplex dissimilar redundancy.
The G650 is equipped with the next generation of Gulfstream’s PlaneView integrated flight deck, PlaneView II, which is based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics and features four large LCDs. A synthetic vision primary flight display and the latest EVS II enhanced vision system are standard features.
PlaneView II’s new features include a Rockwell Collins LCD head-up display with LED light source; Honeywell next-generation flight management system and 3-D scanning weather radar with vertical profile view; and a patented combined display controller and standby instrument on the glare shield.
In the cabin, the Gulfstream Cabin Experience and Gulfstream Cabin Control app enable passengers to control their environment. There’s Wi-Fi with K-Band satellite connectivity throughout, and the spacious private entertainment area is ideal for watching movies, corporate presentations or live streams.
History
The Gulfstream G650 was formally launched as an internal company project in May 2005 and publicly unveiled in March 2008, with claims the new model would become Gulfstream's largest, fastest and most expensive business jet upon entering the market.
The G650 first taxied under its own power in September 2009, with a public rollout ceremony following three days later. The aircraft made its maiden flight in November 2009, while flight testing for the maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 was completed in May 2010.
Gulfstream received the G650’s type certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration in September 2012 and made its first customer delivery that December. About 400 of the aircraft had been built by late 2019.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is an American aircraft company based in Savannah, Georgia and a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. The company originated in the late 1950s when Grumman Aircraft Engineering Co. developed a twin-turboprop business aircraft called the Grumman Gulfstream I (G-I) at its facilities in Bethpage, New York.
Gulfstream now designs, develops, manufactures, markets and services the latest business jet aircraft and has produced more than 2,000 aircraft since 1958.
